Parking Brake vs Regenerative Braking
The Navitas motor-mounted parking brake and regenerative braking are two separate systems.
This is important when choosing between the “With Parking Brake” and “Without Parking Brake”
motor options.
Regenerative braking is an electronic function of the compatible Navitas AC
drive system. During deceleration, the controller can use the motor to create braking force
and, under appropriate operating conditions, recover some energy back into the battery system.
The motor-mounted parking brake is a separate physical brake assembly used
on specific motor and golf cart applications to help hold the vehicle stationary when stopped or parked.
Choosing “Without Parking Brake” does not mean the Navitas system loses regenerative braking capability.
It simply means that the selected motor does not include the physical motor-mounted parking brake.

option for Club Car DS applications where the longer motor does not have adequate clearance.
